Topic 1: IRB
Most dissertations and capstones need to go through the IRB process to determine if the study rises to the level of research on human subjects that requires IRB oversight. But before completing the application, you will need to complete an orientation to the purpose and requirements of the IRB, located in the CITI training. Go to the OPRS homepage and click the quick link for CITI:

School District Research
If you are considering conducting research in a school district you must make sure you have approval from the appropriate personnel in the district. For Los Angeles Unified School District, you must submit a research proposal to the Research Unit. Click the following link for more information: http://achieve.lausd.net/research. For other school districts, consult district offices to determine the appropriate office or contact person. Do not assume that permission from a teacher or school principal is sufficient before beginning recruitment and data collection.
